What you’ll do

As a Data Architect will be required to analyse an array of product offerings and business requirements within Mercury, to create and own the overall Data Architecture spanning the Mercury product suite. You will work with the product development teams (e.g. Core, Web, Integration, Data Practice and product owners) to evaluate and identify solutions that meet the needs of the business and customers, utilising industry standard best practices, patterns and creative design techniques to overcome complex business and technical challenges (e.g. maximum performance with complex data sets).

  • Provide Data Architecture leadership and vision, mentoring product development teams that contribute to the various touch points for Mercury data.
  • Create, maintain and develop a governance model on the Data Architecture through training, design reviews, code reviews, and progress reviews.
  • Work with internal and external resources to develop robust Extract/Transform/Load (ETL) processes for disparate data sources.
  • Collaborate harmoniously with Technical Architecture team members to ensure alignment of architectural standards across technical specialisms.
  • Lead in the evaluation of emerging data-related technology and tools, with particular focus on Microsoft.
  • Determine how the enterprise’s data will be stored and utilised to best provide actionable data and insights to Customers and Internal end users.

Who you are

  • Proven experience as a Data Architect, preferably within the context of SaaS solutions, with specific expertise in Microsoft technologies including Power Platform, Dataverse, Cosmos DB, Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Fabric, Power BI, Data Lakes, and Synapse.
  • 7+ years of experience working on solutions that collect, process, store and analyse large volumes of business-critical data
  • Effective communication skills for collaborating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • 4+ years of BI development experience using Microsoft technology stack
  • 4+ years of experience with implementation and support of Microsoft cloud-based services and products including (but not limited to):
        • Azure Fabric
        • Azure Data Factory
        • Azure Data Lake Store
        • Azure Data Lake Analytics
        • Azure Storage
        • Azure AI Search
        • Azure Cosmos DB
        • Azure SQL, Azure DW, Synapse and Azure Analytics Services
  • Experience working with Agile development teams and an advocate of agile principles. Able to find a supportive balance that does not stifle team creativity.
  • Proven ability to coach and mentor more junior team members.
  • Calm and empathetic approach to working with others.

Desirable

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Statistics, or relevant field
  • DP-100, DP-203, DA-100, AZ305
  • Machine Learning and statistical modelling experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Visual Studio development/SQL Management Studio environments

Location

At Mercury, we believe in the power of face-to-face collaboration. That’s why we encourage our team members to join us at our Coleshill office 2 days per week. However, we’re all about flexibility, so we support remote work the remaining days if that’s your preference.
