Job description

Would you like you join a true Scottish success story in contributing and implementing their Data Centre roadmap?

Be-IT are excited to collaborate with one of Scotland's major success stories as they seek to recruit a Data Centre Systems Team Lead. This role will be located in our client's Glasgow office and will entail overseeing the seamless 24/7 operation of their Data Centres. The ideal candidate will possess robust technical expertise in maintaining Data Centres, implementing new systems, and decommissioning older systems. Moreover, experience in establishing standards, driving continual improvement, and implementing automation is highly desirable.

In this role, you will serve as the primary technical escalation point within the team. Your responsibilities will include reviewing and creating designs aligned with infrastructure requirements, adopting a Lean and DevOps mindset. The position necessitates close collaboration with Data Centre operations, encompassing aspects such as power resilience, VESDA and environmental monitoring, disaster recovery, vulnerability management, service design for securing operational standards, ITIL-driven processes, service transition-led onboarding, privileged access management, change control, and service monitoring. All of these aspects contribute to your role in working closely with the Head of the department to define and execute a multi-year Data Centre strategy.

Essential Skills:

  • Extensive experience in managing Data Centres, encompassing hardware configuration and installation.
  • Strong technical proficiency in:
    • Hardware management
    • Virtualisation technologies (e.g., vSphere)
    • Hyper-converged infrastructure (Cisco HyperFlex)
    • Active directory management
    • Configuration management (e.g., SCCM)
  • Exceptional problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to swiftly address issues and minimize downtime.
  • Experience operating within an ITIL framework with a commitment to continuous improvement across the IT function.
  • Ability to foster a security culture across diverse teams.

This is a great opportunity to work with a great and well renowned Scottish brand, contributing to the implementation of their DC roadmap.

In return you will receive a salary of up to £70,000 per annum + 10% bonus and other benefits.

You will be commutable to Glasgow and happy to spend a minimum of 3 days onsite in Glasgow.
