Job Description:
We’re looking for a Data Engineer who is seeking an exciting opportunity to join our business support department who is motivated, hands-on, and passionate about delivering high quality data insights and visualisation primarily through Power BI.
The ideal individual for this role would be someone experienced in dealing with the full data lifecycle, from ETL (Extract, transform and load) through to visualisations in Power BI. In this role, you will work within a small department led by the Business Operations & Development Manager, but your activity will support the entire EMEA operations.
This role provides a real opportunity to make a significant impact within the small, growing department, who has plans for expansion over the next 1-2 years.
It is vital that the role holder leads with strong communication skills and can work collaboratively with different teams and stakeholders across the business.
This is a Monday to Friday hybrid role with a competitive salary and an array of benefits included below. You will be required to regularly travel and work from our EMEA HQ based in Canary Wharf, London at least three days a week.
Key Responsibilities:
Building Interactive Power BI Dashboards for Data Visualisation and Analysis. Knowledge of DAX queries is preferred
Using data to create meaningful data structures for internal teams
Building and maintaining reporting tools for both internal teams and clients
Understanding our people and processes as well as business problems and opportunities and using this contextual knowledge to translate requirements into technical solutions
Ability to quickly and strategically deliver client-specific requirements that champions our reputation to deliver a bespoke service to our clients
Ability to identify and create key reports and metrics
Assist with the automation of business processes where BI infrastructure can be utilised
Providing ad hoc time-critical support to our project delivery teams with Excel and PowerBI queries and issues
Collaboratively managing the department’s business support request tracker, reviewing, assigning, and prioritising jobs as required
Ability to evolve reports to take them to the next stage, increasing efficiency so that stakeholders are able to take action and make smart confident decisions quickly
Researching, designing, and testing machine-learning algorithms and programs
Ability to really understand stakeholder’s problems and challenges where necessary, to find and offer the best solution
Aid, support, and champion the change process within the business
Desirable Criteria:
Higher qualification in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, Data Science, or any alternative of the same
Hands-on experience in data preparations, data gateway, and experience as a business intelligence developer or similar
Intermediate Power BI and Excel skills
Experience in project/process management
Strong communication skills
Strategic thinker
Ability to build relationships quickly and professionally with colleagues at all levels
Intermediate skills with IT platforms that aid and enhance business operational functions
Expert Microsoft Office skills (namely Microsoft Excel, SharePoint, PowerBI, Visio, Word, and PowerPoint)
SQL proficiency is preferred but not required
Self-motivated, with the ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
Experience with cloud technologies and data science approaches would be valuable
Experience working within the construction industry in a similar role (nice to have)
