Salary: Up to £48,000
Job Type: Full Time
Location: Head Office - West Didsbury

Leading on maintaining and improving the Great Places Group Data Protection compliance framework. Working across the business to ensure high standards of compliance and working closely with colleagues to achieve the same. Also, working alongside the Data and Digital Team to embed an effective data governance strategy that drives increased data ownership, integrity and performance improvement.
What you’ll be doing
  • Leading on the maintenance of an effective Data Protection framework across the Great Places Group (the Group), including policies and supporting documentation
  • Leading on the implementation of the Data Protection framework across the operational and change activities of the Group
  • Promoting a strong Data Protection compliance ethos across the Group, undertaking regular activities to promote awareness and raise key issues, including the provision and delivery of relevant training materials
  • Providing advice and support on compliance with key Data Protection regulatory rules and principles
  • Working with the Head of Data and Digital and other key leads to build and embed an effective Data Governance Framework across the business that promotes ownership of data and identifies data champions
  • Leading on the timely management and investigation of any data related breaches and identifying learning opportunities
  • Planning and performing Data Protection monitoring activities, including at third parties, to assess ongoing compliance
  • Engaging with key stakeholders across the Group to understand and advice on Data Protection matters throughout change activities
  • Supporting the Data Protection Officer with any regulatory communication
  • Overseeing the work of the Data Protection Co-ordinator and undertaking their work in their absence to ensure continued compliance deadlines are achieved
  • Leading on the management of and providing compliant responses to Data Subject Access Requests, including full review and approval before these leave the business
  • Working across the group to ensure robust DPIAs/PIAs are conducted and approved in a timely manner
  • Set up appropriate policies and procedures to manage the new Access to Information Scheme to ensure timely compliance with this new area of legislation
  • Preparing statistical information for performance reporting
  • Attending networking events to support the ongoing compliance and promotion of good practice across the Group

What you’ll need
  • Proven working knowledge of Data Protection requirements, preferably in a social housing setting
  • High standard of written and oral communication skills adaptable across all levels of the organisation including with customers, colleagues and at Senior Management / Committee level
  • Proven success at building strong working relationships to support an effective Data Protection compliance framework
  • Ability to apply complex new and existing legislation and codes of practice to the Group’s activities
  • Use of full range of Microsoft Office software
  • Ability to complete tasks in an accurate and timely manner when working under pressure
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and prioritise workload effectively using a risk based approach
  • Proven people management experience (desirable)
  • Knowledge of Freedom of Information and ability to respond to requests (desirable)
  • Knowledge of cyber security risks and information security standards (desirable)
  • Experience of developing an effective data governance framework (desirable)
