Job description

This role offers a competitive salary, hybrid working, 28 days holiday a year plus Bank Holidays and 11% pension after one year of service.

Salary £39,500 to £43,500 per annum

Location: London/Hybrid (2 days per week in the London office)

This role is being offered on a 12 month-fixed term contract

 About the role

Along with colleagues in the Data Compliance Office, your role is to support the organisation in making decisions that are right for Which?, right for consumers, and consistent with data privacy obligations. Your day to day responsibilities will be wide ranging and include responding to individual rights requests, assessing privacy risks and incidents, supporting on projects, as well as providing advice and guidance more generally. You'll be part of a friendly group that enjoys working together and celebrates its achievements.

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Risk assessing activities involving personal data and supporting the business in completing privacy assessments
  • Processing and managing requests from individuals exercising their rights under the UK GDPR, including subject access requests
  • Participating in activities supporting our privacy programme, including training, embedding a privacy culture, identifying compliance gaps and supporting the business on remedial actions and plans
  • Assessing data breaches & incidents and supporting the business in taking appropriate remedial actions
  • Responding to Data Protection queries from internal teams, providing clear, specific advice, and supporting on cross-organisational strategic initiatives involving personal data

About you:

You will have an interest in Data Protection and privacy culture and have a working knowledge of UK Data Protection regulations. You'll have proven experience of working in a Data Protection or compliance role, a willingness to learn, and be able to switch between tasks quickly with a focus on delivery.

As you will be dealing with compliance issues and personal data you'll need the ability to handle situations sensitively, maintaining a professional approach at all times. You'll have good interpersonal skills, be able to communicate with key stakeholders across the organisation at a variety of levels, and work as part of a team.

Our interview process usually involves 2 stages:

  • Sometimes a chat with a recruiter or hiring manager by phone (typically 30 minutes), followed by
  • An interview on Google Meet (approximately 45-90 minutes) consisting of values and experience-based competency questions and a role related task on a laptop
