The opportunity

L.E.K.’s Data and Analytics team works alongside and supports case teams in solving a range of analytical problems, enabling L.E.K. to provide clients with the best possible advice.

Our collaborative approach to analytics is unique: our consulting teams leverage a high-powered self-service toolkit to build the analysis that underpins our commercial recommendations. As part of our rapidly growing team, you will be working alongside experienced project teams to develop cutting edge solutions to our clients’ toughest commercial problems.

This role will be a senior member of the Data & Analytics practice, focusing on leveraging deep technical and commercial expertise alongside team management skills to support the overall delivery of Data Science as part of casework and sales support. You will also play an important role in growing L.E.K.’s broader D&A capability and our D&A offerings for clients.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Delivering modules of projects, focused on applications of Data Science to solve commercial problems
  • Contributing to sales process (e.g., proposals, discussion packs, workshops) to demonstrate L.E.K.’s Data Science capabilities, including identifying opportunities to leverage Data Science techniques
  • Supporting cases with analytical pathfinding, analytical approaches and execution
  • Managing and coaching other D&A team members, including other data scientists
  • Drives awareness of Data Science capabilities, internally and externally
  • Help drive thought leadership activities (e.g., Executive Insights)

What we are looking for

The Data Science Lead / Associate Directorof Data Science & Engineering role suits anyone with a passion to crack commercial and analytical problems and at least five years’ experience in doing so within a professional services environment.

In addition to technical skills, we are looking for bright and driven people who want to apply Data Science techniques to high-impact commercial contexts, and help others do the same.

  • Deep commercial and strategy knowledge. Ability to tackle complex problems and generate client impact using Data Science, preferably within consulting environment
  • Holds technical knowledge and experience across a range of Data Science areas
  • Strong project management skills including work planning, presentation development, quality control, and stakeholder management
  • Degree in a quantitative and/or business discipline preferred, examples include Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Operations Research, Engineering, Economics
  • Strong knowledge, experience, and fluency in Python or R, SQL; familiarity with Alteryx and Tableau preferred
  • Technical understanding of machine learning algorithms; experience with deriving insights by performing Data Science techniques including classification models, clustering analysis, time-series modelling, NLP; technical knowledge of optimisation is a plus
  • Hands-on experience with manipulating and extracting information on a variety of large both structured and unstructured datasets; comfortable with data acquisition and warehousing best practices
  • Excellent communication skills, both written (including Powerpoint) and oral; ability to explain complex algorithms to business stakeholders
  • Experience with product development tools (e.g., Agile, DevOps, git, CI/CD) and cloud platforms is a plus
