HOURS: Full time

WORKING PATTERN: Hybrid, 40% (or two days) a week in our Edinburgh, Bristol or Leeds office site

About this opportunity

We're looking for an experienced data leader to help us modernise to deliver great and innovative solutions to customers, making sure our data is well managed, accurate and trusted, building the foundation for AI and future technology applications. You will be designing and driving high quality data initiatives, drawing upon your technical expertise, whilst being open minded and leverage the opportunities the cloud provides.

Here's where you'll make the difference:

• You will provide Insurance, Pensions & Investments (IP&I) with a clear strategic direction for Data through the development of and ongoing management of the Data Strategy, aligning to the Business and Group.
• Own the multi-year Data roadmap, funding, metrics and plans to achieve the Data Strategy, interlocking with the Business, Platform teams and Group. Leveraging and exploiting Group initiatives, where appropriate.
• Work with Architecture teams to develop and own the set of principles to define and drive Data roles, processes and governance, maintaining the IP&I Data Operating Model.
• Develop the divisional Data strategic resource plans detailing growth and development of activities by capability.
• Collaboratively working with colleagues and senior leaders from different areas across IP&I and Group in order to understand and provide value and insight for our customers. You will be representing IP&I and ensuring alignment to both IP&I and Group policies.
• Understand the Business and able to communicate complex messaging to senior management, especially visually and through "telling the story" in a compelling way.

What you'll need

• Hands-on proven experience in leading, developing and driving Data Strategy and initiatives aligned to business goals.
• Knowledge and practical application of Risk, Data Management and Data Governance.
• Experience of developing principles, processes and operating models.
• Technical background and knowledge of data engineering, analytics, and Cloud (GCP ideally) technologies.
• Have an active interest in new and emerging tools and technologies.
• Experience of leading, driving and presenting at Governance Forums and Committees.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and story-telling skills.
• Project planning / change management experience.
• Previous experience of leading high performing teams.
