As a Data Subject Access Requests (SAR) Project Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in managing complex SAR processes and ensuring compliance with data protection regulations. From administering SAR management processes to communicating with requestors and stakeholders, your expertise will be essential in analyzing data requirements, identifying exemptions and preparing responses in accordance with legal requirements. You'll also oversee requests for rectification and erasure, manage requests under Data Protection legislation and provide subject matter expertise to staff at all levels. MAIN DUTIES OF THE ROLE

1. Managing complex Subject Access Requests:
   
   • Administration of SAR management processes
   • Communication with requestors and other stakeholders
   • Analysis of data requirements, identifying the need for clarifications and the possible application of exemptions
   • Requesting, obtaining and collating search material from services
   • Determining what material may be disclosed and consulting with individuals to whom there is a duty of confidence
   • Compiling and redacting responses in PDF format
   • Preparing material and documentation for secure release
2. Managing requests for rectification & erasure.
3. Managing requests under Schedule 2 Part 1(2) of the Data Protection Act 2018.
4. Providing subject matter expertise on the Data Protection, and other Information Management, legislation in relation to information requests, business processes and research projects to staff at all levels.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

• Knowledge of Data Protection Act 2018 and General Data Protection Regulations in particular in relation to individual rights to information.
• Understanding of the role of the Information Commissioner.
• Significant previous experience in a similar type of position dealing with complex Data Subject Access requests.
• Extensive practical experience of applying information rights exemptions and handling requests sensitively.
• Excellent understanding of what constitutes personal data of the individual.
• Excellent comprehension and analysis skills, with the ability to accurately specify data search requirements.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, practical experience of writing DSAR responses to requestors explaining the information that has been provided to them.
• Excellent organisational and record keeping skills.
• Strong technical skills including the ability to convert documents and emails into PDF formats. Considerable experience of using redaction and other tools within Adobe Acrobat PRO.
• Knowledge of University processes and functions to help evaluate appropriate exemptions to SARs/third party disclosures and to locate information held.
