Job description

The Data Quality Analyst 1 post within the DBS Digital, Information and Technology (DIT) Data Quality team jointly manages and reports on the quality of data across HR systems within DBS. Reporting to the Data Services Senior Manager 1, they will be a Data Quality subject matter expert within DBS DIT and will engage with and support corporate transformation programmes, projects, and changes with expert input on Data Quality issues.

The Data Quality Analyst role is a hybrid role that requires both significant IT skills, as well as knowledge of HR processes, and how data enables them.

The responsibilities of the post holder includes, but not limited to:

  • Provide an effective Data Quality service to DBS stakeholders and customers.
  • Investigate, analyse and monitor Data Quality issues using HR systems and/or relevant IT systems, working with the Subject Matter Experts to correct the data and drive improvements.
  • Introduce measures to improve Data Quality and efficiency of DBS data held on various systems.
  • Ensure transactions on HR systems are performed accurately and in accordance with the relevant policy and procedures.
  • Participate in other DBS Data Quality improvement programmes and projects.
  • Work with different DBS teams to develop a detailed understanding of cross pillar business processes and data requirements.
  • Raise awareness of active Data Quality issues and their impact across the DBS.
  • Monitor and report on occurrence of Data Quality issues using the Data Quality Issues Register.
  • Assist in the development of data cleansing plans with the business and provide feedback on the resolution of data issues.
  • Provide training to other DBS teams where a trend in errors is shown for a particular area.
  • Engage with DBS technical teams on Data Quality of interfaces that interact with HR systems.
  • Develop and provide reporting and statistical metrics.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of future Data Quality tools.

Support the Data Services Senior Manager 1 as required.

Person specification

Essential:

Experience of managing data and data governance.
Ability to extract, analyse and manipulate data in large datasets.
Knowledge of the operation of large corporate HR systems.
Use of the Microsoft Office 365 toolset, in particular MS Excel.

Desirable:

Experience of using Data Quality tools such as Informatica or Oracle Enterprise Data Quality.
Knowledge of the MoD HR policy and procedures.
Experience of the MoD MyHR system.
