Job description

Acorns Childrens Hospice are now looking for a Deputy Director for Quality Assurance to have responsibility for continual quality improvement and governance that meets the requirements of the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

About the Role

At Acorns Children’s Hospice we offer specialist palliative care and support for children and their families across the West Midlands. We are there wherever and whenever they need us, in the hospice, community and at home. Our aim at Acorns is to help families feel equipped to cope at every stage of their child’s life with dedicated teams offering psychological, emotional and practical support.

As a Deputy Director for Quality Assurance, you will:

  • Lead on the development, maintenance and delivery of a strategy for Quality
  • Embed clinical governance, safety and quality into all aspects of the hospices' services
  • Lead and contribute to the annual integrated governance work programme, assurance framework and CQC aspects
  • Lead on the hospices' participation and reporting in all clinical effectiveness workstreams including clinical audit programmes, NICE implementation and quality improvement programmes
  • Lead the investigation of serious incidents
  • Report and provide recommendations arising from audits, complaints and incidents ensuring progress is made and learning can be evidenced
  • Be the responsible officer for Infection Prevention and Control and Deputy Caldicott Guardian
  • Work with Learning & Development department to facilitate a proactive learning culture
  • Undertake on-call duties as part of the hospice clinical on-call rota

About You

You should have:

  • Experience in the planning, delivery and review of clinical services
  • Be a qualified and registered professional eg NMC, HCPC etc
  • Experience of managing, coordinating and leading on child and family safety investigations
  • Experience of coordinating and leading on preparation and readiness for internal audits and external inspections
  • Knowledge of standards for Quality care pathways applicable to hospice services
