Help to improve outcomes for children and young people with SEND in Gloucestershire
In Gloucestershire, our focus is on enabling an inclusive education system, providing the right support at the right time and in the right place.
As a local authority we are committed to improving outcomes for children and young people and are investing in our capacity through creating additional posts within Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) service and other SEND services to help us to meet local need.
This is an exciting time to join Gloucestershire as we are part of the national SEND and Alternative Provision Change Programme. This means as the EHCP Deputy Service
Manager you would be instrumental in helping us to develop and shape future SEND provision locally, that informs national policy.
Gloucestershire’s recent Local Area Partnership SEND Inspection confirms that we are on an improvement journey and as a Deputy EHCP Manager you will have an important role in delivering those improvements.
How you’ll make a difference…
As part of our EHCP service you will ensure access to inclusive and appropriate education for all children and young people with SEND so that they can achieve positive outcomes and lead successful adult lives. Working closely with education providers, developing strong working relationships across education, health, social care, young people you will ensure that the statutory duties for children hand young people with SEND are discharged effectively.
What we need from you…
You will be an experienced professional with a thorough understanding of SEND legislation, guidance and best practice. You should have excellent communication skills and the ability to work co-productively and creatively with other professionals, children and young people and their families, to address identified needs.
The SEND landscape is complex, and you will need to have empathy for the challenges that young people and their families experience, as well as competence in assessing and reviewing the needs of vulnerable children, young people and their families.
You will also need experience, knowledge and understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and its application and a proven track record of successfully managing change and services.
