- Management of department processes in line with company expectations, ensuring consultation is completed with relevant process reviewers when adding, amending, deleting and reviewing owned processes
- Support and manage People Management processes
- Ensure employee training and competence requirements are in compliance with the Training Matrix and Competence Assessments
- Ensure complete and accurate records are kept of all relevant activities including charging of all applicable harbour dues
- Ensure routine inspections, maintenance, defect management, drills and exercises are undertaken in accordance with requirements
- Safe Management of Contractors working within Harbour (including Diving)
- Chair Shore Safety Meetings
- Attend and participate in local Harbour User Meetings
- Act as Deputy Port Facility Security Officer where necessary
- Supervise the safety of navigation for all harbour users
- Using the powers of direction, regulate and monitor activities of vessels within statutory harbour limits
- Provide and maintain marine VHF communications at staffed locations
- Review of Marine Navigational and shore side Risk Assessments
- Reporting, management, and investigation of unsafe acts, near misses, accidents and incidents
- Ensure all required reports are submitted timeously, e.g. AtoNs, Infrastructure, Harbour Dues, CERS.
- Ensure that all work equipment used on site is suitable and certified for the proposed use
- Supervision of any associated unmanned locations
- Provide adequate response or assistance to Oil Spills or other such environmental incidents within SHA and local area
- Supervision of Port Staff
- Deputising for Port Manager
- Cash handling
- Banking duties
- Controlling petty cash and change floats
- Completing timesheets
- Daily statistics reconciliation
- Disruption management
- Rostering of staff
- Stock management
- Dealing with customer enquiries and handling complaints
- All duties connected with CFL and third-party vessel movements, including berthing arrangements
- Liaising with third party clients and contractors
- Control of passengers and vehicles embarking and disembarking from vessels
- Any other duties required by the Port Manager
- Computer literate, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Expected to have a flexible approach to working, as shift and weekend work will be involved.
- Customer focused, with a clear understanding of the customer interface and must have a proactive approach to customer care.
- Ability to work with initiative as self-starter, without supervision.
- Willingness to undertake training and continuing professional development.
