Job Title: Design Engineer
Location: Portsmouth. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements - please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.Salary: Up to £37,900 depending on skills and experienceWhat you'll be doing:To undertake a defined range of detail design, testing and commissioning activities in line with all relevant processes and quality requirements, supplying advice and support to operations and other functions, ensuring defined objectives are achieved whilst continually maintaining quality and service requirement.· Operate within the functionality of the appropriate tools and techniques (e.g. AutoCAD, Inventor, FORAN etc.) as directed by his/her supervisor· Produce and develop LEV/HVAC designs in line with specifications and all quality and technical standards, and carry out detail design appraisals in assigned areas to ensure all standards are maintained, taking due cognisance of Designing for Production· Carry out investigations into operational problems or developments, develop, and prepare solutions, individually or as a member of a team· Support the development of best practice to increase the capability, performance of tools and processes Your skills and experiences:· Requires an understanding of how activities of own team interrelates and interacts with other functional areas aligned to the same contract or project· Understands in detail the technical specification aligned to the functional area of activity. Requires a limited understanding of the external environment· AutoCAD experience· Strong communication, diplomacy and interpersonal skills· Mechanical engineering background with experience including but not limited to HVAC Design· Experience in the maritime sector would be advantageous· LEV (Local Exhaust Ventilation) experience is ideal but not essential as training will be providedBenefits:You'll receive benefits including a competitive pension scheme, enhanced annual leave allowance and a Company contributed Share Incentive Plan. The Marine Engineering team:You will be joining an experienced Marine Engineering team with specialisation in HVAC and LEV systems as well as carrying out surveys and validations of design we also carry out feasibility studies for new technology and systems. We are currently designing a new cooling system that can reduce demand on the ships systems by making them independent to the systems requiring the cooling and this can be rolled out across all vessels.
