Role Overview: The Design Lead will be responsible for overseeing the design and implementation of mechanical systems in water sector projects. This includes leading a team of engineers and designers, ensuring the highest standards of quality and sustainability, and collaborating with other departments to deliver successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the mechanical design team in developing innovative solutions for water infrastructure projects.
- Oversee the design and construction of mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and sustainability goals.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including civil, electrical, and environmental engineers, to ensure cohesive project execution.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
- Ensure all designs meet project specifications, budgets, and timelines.
- Conduct regular project reviews and provide updates to senior management.
- Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in mechanical design and the water sector.
Qualifications:
- Chartered Engineer status (CEng) is required.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design and construction, with a focus on the water sector.
- Proven experience leading design teams and managing large-scale projects.
- Strong understanding of water infrastructure systems, including pumps, pipelines, and treatment facilities.
- Proficient in design software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar tools.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
