My client is looking for an experienced Design Manager to join their team. They focus on projects between £5million and £15 million and are a regional contractor based in Warwickshire.

Role details
Management of the design process across all allocated Pre contract & live and projects.
Assist the development of the Design management function across the business engaging with regional offices as appropriate.
Responsible for the coordination and development of design, sourcing value engineering options, coordination of design consultants and supply chain partners.
Manage the Appointments of the Design Consultants, Maintaining Design Consultant and client relationships.
Working closely with Pre-Construction, Technical and Divisional Directors to ensure designs are a winning solution, meeting project requirements and in line with Cost.
Instrumental in supporting the development and implementation of the agreed Design strategy managing the overall design process from tender stage through to completion of design, Lead the development and implementation of design proposals, ensuring they meet customer requirements, including budget constraints,
Presenting proposals for approval to the client.
Produce and implement project specific design management processes and protocols in the form of a design management plan.
Manage the collateral warranty process on your projects.
Ensure that the scope of services for incorporation into each consultant appointment meet the project requirements.
Manage and ensure effective briefing of the Design Team, this includes the management of any 3rd parties or novated design teams to ensure that they meet all customer specifications and where necessary, checking the competence and resources of any incumbent design teams or 3rd parties.
Implement risk management reviews and workshops relating to the design and input to the project risk register, Establish and monitor request for information (RFI) process for the project. Establish and monitor project specific technical document control process and protocols
Maintain awareness of and meeting the cost plan and Budgets
Manage design verification processes
Develop and monitor a detailed design programme and assist with design programmes at preconstruction stage.
Work closely with the project team in identifying and managing design change
Liaison with client and other project stakeholders on design issues
Close liaison with other members of the project team
Lead and motivate Design Managers, design co-ordinators and / or document controller working on the projects
Establish detail requirements and responsibilities for technical handover documentation including Health and Safety File, building manuals, building user guide etc. and produce plan for production of the same.
Maintaining daily records
Ensure information is issued prior to the works commencing.
Ensure the design and installation complies with all statutory requirements
Ensure all parties to the project comply with the following: Contract agreed set of contractor’s proposals, and the original Employers requirements, Building Control, BREEAM Requirements, Statutory authorities
Post Construction
Assist the Principal Designer prepare the H&S file.
Assist the Operations team to prepare the building manual.
Check all “As built” drawings that have been supplied by design consultants, subcontractors and specialist suppliers are an accurate representation of the completed building
Assist the operations team to ensure all testing and commissioning that is required under the building contract has been completed as per the specifications.
