With an annual turnover circa £45m and with project values typically ranging between £6M and £15M being delivered across 8 frameworks as well as their traditional client base this organisation is expanding and needs people like you to grow with them in order full fill those expansion plans.
While this success is hard won they have invested in hiring people with a passion for construction, who buy into an ethos of teamwork and they have invested heavily in making sure their systems and processes keep pace with an evolving industry. This includes Building Information Modelling and VR technology which has been hugely beneficial, not only in the delivery phase but also in in securing the tenders in the first place.
As well as being involved in both the tender phase and the delivery phase of the project through to handover uniquely you will also have the opportunity to work on their knowledge transfer partnership with the University of Kent and with their inhouse Data Scientist.
This Government sponsored project is looking at how the design of the building has affected the performance of the people using it. EG: in schools are the grades improving, are staff and pupils off sick less often, is the building being utilised more effectively. The objective is to be able demonstrate that better design and better construction techniques leads to significantly better results and therefore a better return on the investment. Combine this data with BIM modelling and they are on a very exciting journey as a company and you can be a part of that, learn a lot and develop your career.
Desired Knowledge and Experience
Experience of working for a main contractor on similar projects in at least the delivery phase would be beneficial but the key point to make here is that what my client looks for first and foremost is a passion for construction, a desire to be a part of a team and a willingness to improve both yourself and what is being delivered.
In return:
Depending on your level of experience you might be given your own project to run from inception or come on board as a very good number two to learn the systems and processes of the business before moving on to run your own project as the Design Manager. The immediate goal then is to get you to ready to be a Senior Design Manager and then to they will look to develop your man management skills by bringing in people under you.
My client pays a market leading base salary along with a car allowance, pension, 34 days holiday (inc the 8 days bank holiday) and as previously mentioned because the company is run as an employee ownership trust everyone that works there is a shareholder in the company and you will receive a share of the profits, the first £3,600 of which is tax free.
