Job description

Our IT Department is responsible for the design, build and support of the University’s technical infrastructure, back-office and teaching and learning applications, and classroom technology.
You will be based in Canterbury with opportunities to work from home at least some of the week. The role will provide you with the opportunity to work across our infrastructure, applications, and user technology domains. Your primary role will be to Lead the design and documentation of IT services to meet business requirements.
We need someone who can:
Engage and coordinate our service owners, business analysts, and technical staff to help design our IT services.
Work at a detailed technical level with colleagues across IT and elsewhere; ensure business requirements and challenges are understood and catered for.
Work with stakeholders to ensure Service Designs deliver the expected benefits.
Understand possible design trade-offs, and champion an appropriate balance between all four ITIL v4 dimensions.
Assist the Service Transition process, providing design context, and advising on the suitability of lower-level design decisions when required.
As an IT Service Design Manager, you will:
Have a practical and demonstratable understanding of ITIL and Service Design.
Be logical and methodical, capable of planning and leading complex work.
Be skilled at building consensus between people with different skillsets and perspectives.
Have patience and be diplomatic - skills you have utilised whilst working in. complex technical, and time-pressured business environments.
Be a team player, happy to contribute, lead and be led.
Have a desire to add value, and to continually improve processes.
