Design / Product Engineer

The Just Recruitment Group is currently recruiting for a Design / Product Engineer for an engineering company based in Braintree, Essex.
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced degree educated individual to join our Production Engineering Department at our Braintree site.
Job Role:
Reporting to the Production Engineering Manager, the primary function of the role will be to:
1. Lead, and manage elements of design projects focused on:
 Improving existing manufacturing processes.
 Development, introduction and adoption of new technology.
 Research and development of new product.
 Value engineering of existing product.
 Gauging reproducibility and repeatability.
Skills Required:
1. Formal qualification in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Production Engineering to degree level.
2. Good understanding of Maths
3. Willing to challenge themselves and recognise when to ask for help.
4. Ability to Lead, Manage and Engage with different levels of the business from directors to shop floor.
5. Excellent organisation, administrative and communication skills.
6. Good level of computer skills with basic Microsoft packages, such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
7. Ability and willingness to travel as required and act independently representing the company while away from the company premises.
Preferred skills
1. Understanding of both the imperial and metric measurement system and able to convert between.
2. Understanding of precision, working to 0.001 of a millimeter.
3. Conversant with Lean Manufacturing / Continuous Improvement techniques.
4. Knowledge of Six Sigma techniques.
5. Knowledge of Metal cutting and manufacturing processes.
6. Knowledge of metrology and measurement techniques.
7. Experience in project management
8. CAD/CAM experience ideally in SolidWorks, FANUC FIPT or Alkart CNC Wizard
