A highly prestigious London-based membership Society is looking to recruit a Development Manager to develop pathways to new opportunities, ensuring the Society is at the forefront of open science initiatives, collaborates with partners to benefit its members and grows and diversifies its income streams for long-term sustainability. The Development Manager will be responsible for working closely with colleagues across the Development Opportunities, Scientific Programmes and Engagement and Storytelling themes to establish goals that develop and sustain income-generating activities aligned to the Society’s long-term strategy. This is a pivotal role for the organisation and will report to the Head of Marketing & Development. The Society offers hybrid working, with 1-2 days a week in the London office.

Some of the key responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

Investigating options with key contacts to develop ways partnerships could help deliver financial support for the Society’s activities. Identify and investigate like-minded companies and industry contacts that align with the Society’s strategic plan, and build lasting and sustainable relationships to drive income to the Society. Explore the potential for philanthropic income generation, including developing a portfolio of potential funders from a range of corporate and other donor prospects. Prepare and present progress reports on a regular basis to the Head of Marketing & Development and other internal teams. Build and develop business cases that enable the Society to apply for funding that will help deliver on the Society’s core projects and support member needs. Establish partnerships with like-minded companies working in industry and other scientific communities to support the diversification of income streams for the Society. The successful person will have some proven experience in a development and partnerships or fundraising role in a similar or comparable organisation, and should be familiar with the culture of working with a non-profit organisation. You will be able to demonstrate experience in identifying and developing partnership opportunities, formulating, and implementing partnership and fundraising strategies, including a strong sense of brand building and the ability to analyse success of campaigns.

The successful person will be joining a friendly, and established group of experts within the Development Opportunities theme and will be able to actively contribute and work as a team to generate ideas that maximise output for the Society’s members.
