Job title: Digital Content Producer

Salary: £34,042 per annum

Location:London, E1 (Hybrid working)

Contract/Hours: 35 hours per week, Permanent

Fairtrade Foundation are recruiting for an innovative Digital Content Producer.

We’re looking for a creative storyteller to craft content that not only illustrates the benefits of buying Fairtrade, but also inspires support for our work. Your ideas will have the power to connect consumers to the human stories of the farmers and workers behind their favourite products.

You’ll be part of the Digital Team, responsible for communicating across digital channels the range of Fairtrade products available to buy in the UK, as well as the influence and impact that Fairtrade makes as a movement for change.

You’ll have a minimum of 2 years’ experience producing Digital Content for websites and social platforms. Digitally fluent you have an active interest in social media content formats and trends.

Shortlisted candidates will be asked to share examples of their work when invited to an interview.

Role Purpose

Are you an innovative Digital Content Producer?

We’re looking for a creative storyteller to craft compelling content that not only illustrates the benefits of buying Fairtrade, but also inspires support for our work. Your ideas will have the power to connect consumers to the human stories of the farmers and workers behind their favourite products.

You’ll be part of the Digital Team, responsible for communicating across digital channels the range of Fairtrade products available to buy in the UK, as well as the influence and impact that Fairtrade makes as a movement for change.

You'll be combining your passion for storytelling with your knowledge of emerging digital trends, to create content that extends our reach and drives engagement.

You'll collaborate closely with the Senior Digital Manager and Social Media Manager on the creation, pitching, and production of content. You’ll also work alongside the Content Manager to research, source, and package content from our extensive library of assets.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities

  • Researching and producing engaging Digital Content and resources for the website and social channels, including blogs, short-form videos, and other multimedia content formats.
  • Deliver content from marketing campaign briefs, as well as research and identify compelling stories from across the business to pitch into the Digital and wider Marketing team.
  • Collaborate with the Media Team to identify opportunities to amplify news stories and press releases, contributing ideas to adapt stories for a general audience.
  • Maintain and update the Fairtrade Foundation website, keeping it fresh, dynamic, and relevant.
  • Field website requests to ensure content is aligned to business objectives, brand guidelines, web accessibility and usability.
  • Manage the Fairtrade blog, creating relevant, evergreen, and popular seasonal content that is SEO optimised. Reviewing, reporting, and sharing insights to continuously improve the impact and effectiveness of blog content.
  • Review and improve on-page and on-site SEO and make content improvement recommendations to keep key pages at the top of organic search.
  • Co-ordinate digital production projects such as videos, podcasts, or other content formats briefed to external partners, freelancers, and agencies.
  • Attendance at events and campaign launches to support the Social Media Manager with behind-the-scenes content, interviews and other content gathering activities.
  • Work with the Senior Digital Manager and Social Media Manager to identify opportunities to pilot new Digital Content formats and/or platforms, collaborations, and influencers.
  • Assist the Senior Digital Manager in the audit and migration of website content to a new global website.
  • Work with the Senior Digital Manager to schedule the team’s editorial calendars and team project management tools and identify content gaps and requirements in the schedule.
  • Support the Social Media Manager in content creation and scheduling of social media content.
  • Provide social media scheduling and community management support to the Social Media Manager during peak periods such as key marketing activations and Fairtrade Fortnight.
  • Work alongside the Content Manager to support digital asset management requirements and content tagging.

Person specification

Experience & Qualifications


Essential:


  • 2+ years' experience producing Digital Content for websites and social platforms
  • Digitally fluent with an active interest in social media content formats and trends.
  • Basic knowledge of website content management systems to publish content.
  • An understanding of optimising content for digital channels and the principles of writing for the web.

Desired:


  • Experience filming short-form video on mobile including editing and captioning.
  • Familiarity with content design principles, accessibility standards, UX, usability and SEO.

Knowledge & Skills


Essential:


  • Ability to spot stories and adapt them for digital channels based on how social audiences consume content.
  • A keen eye for detail and accuracy, with experience in quality-checking and proofing content before publication.
  • Able to work within agreed brand and editorial guidelines.
  • Well-organised, proactive, and able to prioritise own work.
  • Able to work in collaboration with others across the team, and wider organisation.
  • Ability to plan, schedule and co-ordinate Digital Content projects and deliver work in a regular and timely fashion.
  • Flexible and able to respond professionally to changing briefs, deadlines, and priorities.

Desired:


  • Comfortable with online digital tools such as Canva, quiz makers, and mobile apps for content creation and editing.
  • Awareness of copyright, consent, and IP issues.
  • Experience using Canva.
  • Experience using Adobe Premiere.
