Digital Transformation Officer

We are seeking a Digital Transformation Officer to join our Technology and Digital Transformation Service. The post-holder will support the delivery of the Council’s Technology Strategy in improving the standing of the district in terms of digital infrastructure, focusing on delivering gigabit-capable broadband connections and increasing the penetration of fibre across the district.

This officer will also consult with stakeholders, both internal and external, to analyse requirements and promote the technological hardware and software options available to maximise the infrastructures capability. Identifying technological solutions that would resolve service delivery challenges and result in benefits to our residents and businesses.

The post-holders approach will be multifaceted, reflecting the scale of the challenge and recognising the importance of propagating a technological infrastructure which will underpin connectivity, improve services and promote the prosperity and wellbeing of the district and the Council and its residents, business and community. The post holder will have experience in delivering successful technology projects and a detailed understanding of the national strategies and policies which significantly impact upon and guide strategic direction, specifically, the digital communications market.

The post-holder will also work closely with our stakeholders to develop a Digital Inclusion Programme which ensures our citizens are able to take advantage of technology to improve their lives. Opportunities to improve standards of living are increasingly dependent on technology and our programme must therefore address at least the following:

• Access to adequate infrastructure
• Affordability of broadband for all
• Affordability of up-to-date hardware and software
• Digital skills that encourage self service
