This new role, which provides a great opportunity to lead and develop this busy and much loved community centre and gym will focus on leadershp and management, strategic and community development.
Who we are and what we do
At the Cambrian Community Centre we care passionately about improving health and well-being and developing community strength by engaging people from the local and wider community in exercise and group activities at the Centre.
We welcome everyone but focus what we do particularly around those who may be disadvantaged by health, disability, age or social and economic disadvantage.
Why it’s important
The Centre is located in an area of social and sheltered housing, the Queen’s Road Estate, in Richmond. The Centre makes a significant difference, providing a focal point for the community and through improved health and well-being. It consists of two meeting rooms and a community gym.
The Centre provides:
i. a friendly and welcoming Community Gym
ii. bespoke exercise programmes and support for people with significant health issues, referred for rehabilitative exercise with our specialist qualified gym staff
iii. a programme of directly-provided community activities, for example, yoga, pilates, choir, drawing and table tennis
iv. a weekly lunchtime café, delivered in partnership with The Real Junk Food Project
v. additional activities provided in partnership with other organisations, for example, a weekly Teenagers’ Club and IT support sessions for older people
vi. spare room space for hire, for example, for children’s ballet, children’s birthday parties and for meetings.
We are proud of the difference we make for local people and particularly for people with health issues and disabilities, older people and people struggling with the cost of living and/or living alone.
