We work on the ground with communities in India and Bangladesh to find, diagnose and rehabilitate children, women and men affected by leprosy. Through raising awareness, pushing for early detection and reducing prejudice we support people so they can transform their lives and work towards a day where we can beat leprosy altogether.
We are now recruiting for a new Director of Finance and Operations as our current Director is retiring this year. The incoming post holder will oversee and lead a team of 3 people in the UK and oversee, support and collaborate with senior counterparts in our client in Bangladesh and our sister organisation in India, the our client's Society. This is a UK based role with flexibility to work from home or from our Colchester office.
The key purpose of the role is to provide strategic leadership and direction for the effective management of the organisation, including our financial strategy, our people strategy, our governance and our operations. You will lead a UK Finance and Operations team and support counterpart teams in Bangladesh and India with responsibility for the overall financial performance of our client, from planning and budgeting through to accounting and audit. You will also lead on UK organisational performance and efficiency, including developing our human resources function to ensure our people have the right skills and systems to deliver high quality work in-line with our culture and values. Other responsibilities include contributing to the corporate governance of the organisation, including through supporting our strategy to strengthen organisational capacity in our client's Society and Bangladesh, as well as by acting as Company Secretary for our client in the UK. In addition you will contribute to the executive leadership of the organisation as a member of the UK and Global Senior Management Teams (SMTs).
The successful candidate will have strong experience leading a finance team previously for a non profit organisation. You will be able to demonstrate success in delivering organisational and departmental objectives and have previous experience leading, developing and motivating a team. In addition to finance, you will have developed some expertise in other areas such as HR, governance, compliance, IT or facilities and be keen to lead and develop these areas for Lepra. We are open to considering experienced senior level candidates as well as candidates looking to step up into a broader role. Knowledge and experience of working in overseas countries, especially in India or Bangladesh, could be beneficial but not essential.
