Central is currently recruiting for a Support Worker, to work in the Watford area. The service provides support to people who have a history of mental illness. The aim of the service is to promote recovery and develop independent life skills to move-on within 18 months.
The successful candidate will be required to work 37.5 hours per week, working across Monday - Friday, 9AM - 5:30PM. Temporary cover is required for approximately 3 months, with the possibility of extension. The pay rate is £11.99 per hour, with £1.74 holiday pay, totalling £13.73 per hour.
In this position, you will be required to:
- Hold a caseload of key clients and undertake regular key working sessions resulting in agreed Support Plans
- Complete comprehensive needs and risk assessments
- - Support customers to sustain their housing and identify and move onto housing which meets their needs.
- Encourage self-management of health and wellbeing.
- Support customers to maximise their income, to access benefits, and to budget to cover domestic bills and living expenses.
- Liaise with colleagues, partner agencies and other stakeholders regarding safeguarding, welfare, and risk concerns.
- Promote and support customers to access training and education opportunities
- Work with our customers in a person centred, recovery focused and trauma informed way.
- Undertake administrative duties

- Experience of working with vulnerable adults, including mental health, complex needs and substance misuse.
- Experience and knowledge of best practises for working with a mental health clients or vulnerable adults and promoting their recovery and independence.
- Experience of holding a caseload, support planning and completing risk and needs assessments
- The Ability and confidence to lone work.
- Knowledge of Safeguarding vulnerable adults
- Knowledge of Health and Safety in a supported housing environment.
- Experience working in a person-centred, recovery-focused, and trauma-informed approach.
- Knowledge of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion for this client group and knowledge to be able to challenge discrimination and stigma.
- IT literacy including Word, excel and data entry systems

Further requirements:
In order to register with Central Recruitment Services for temporary agency work, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Current valid right to work in the UK
- Minimum 12 months’ of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years* (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)
- A fully enhanced DBS either registered on the DBS update service or issued within the last 12 months, or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £50)
- Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process
