Director of Housing & Operations

Empower Housing Association provides high quality housing that is specifically adapted to the needs of adults with disabilities, enabling them to live independently within their community. Founded in 2003 and based in Chorley in Lancashire, we currently provide more than 200 homes to approximately 450 people across England and Scotland.

We are committed to providing the highest quality services, ensuring that our tenants voice and lived experience helps to shape and improve what we do. We work hard to ensure that homes are safe and sustainable and we continue to be a financially robust organisation and a great place to work.

As a member of our Executive Team, our new Director of Housing & Operations will make an important contribution to these priorities. You’ll ensure that clear strategic and operational purpose enables colleagues to offer high quality services that can make such a difference to our tenants quality of life.

Alongside your focus on the here and now, you will also develop housing management and property investment strategies that will support continuous improvement over time, involve our tenants and ensure compliance with regulation and legislation. In a small organisation, you can expect real breadth of responsibility and the opportunity to diversify and extend your skills and knowledge. We’re looking for someone who can lead on housing management, asset management, financial planning & performance monitoring, while investing time in the professional development of our colleagues – helping to get the best from others.

We expect that you’ll already have management experience within a housing setting, and that you can quickly establish trust and credibility with a wide range of stakeholders. You should have a well-informed understanding of our sector and the regulatory framework under which we operate. Most importantly, you’ll be able to demonstrate your commitment for supporting people with disabilities and a readiness to put their needs at the centre of service design.
