About the role
UCL is currently looking to appoint 2 Directors of Operations (DoO's) to support either the Faculty of Social and Historical Sciences or the Faculty of Medical Sciences. These senior leadership appointments will report to and be a trusted advisor of the Dean of the Faculty. They are responsible for creating the right operational environment to empower our academics to deliver research and teaching. These roles are pivotal role in shaping the operational landscape, ensuring alignment of resources, processes and technology to support the faculty’s objectives. The Director of Operations has four core responsibilities:
- Leading the professional services/operational teams within the faculty
- Working with the Dean, Academic Heads of Department, Departmental Managers and faculty colleagues to ensure the faculty is financially and operationally sustainable
- Championing and delivering meaningful and beneficial change to support faculty and organisational objectives
- Representing the Departments and Faculties in organisational wide decision making
They will also take part in and represent the faculty in cross faculty and University wide initiatives requiring senior input and presence, such as committees, boards and internal and external events. Additionally, the DoO will have faculty specific initiatives that they will be responsible for leading some of which can be found in Appendix 1 - Faculty of Social and Historical Sciences and Appendix 2 - Faculty of Medical Sciences
About you
You will be a driven and ambitious strategic operations leader with a track record of delivery with impact gained in complex, matrix organisations. You will have the ability to move projects forward, combined with an aptitude for energising cohesive teams to deliver UCL's strategic and operational goals. Your strong commercial acumen and enabling approach will cut through challenges to achieve business objectives. You will also possess excellent communication and influencing skills including the ability to champion the collegiality UCL values, and advocate well.
