Looking to take charge of a dynamic role that steers strategic planning, operational efficiency, and corporate governance? Join us in a pivotal position where you'll:
- Drive Strategic Excellence: Lead the planning, development, and delivery of strategic initiatives, managing the directorate business and corporate governance systems for the Directorate by fostering efficient business systems while ensuring seamless operations.
- Facilitate Effective Collaboration: Accountable for ensuring the seamless and effective facilitation of pivotal directorate business meetings, encompassing proactive scheduling, foresight analysis, and collaborating with essential stakeholders to establish and execute a framework enabling the directorate to operate optimally across internal and external domains of its business.
- Ensure Compliance and Impact: To ensure the directorate is adhering to and contributing to the effective operation of corporate strategic planning, democratic and governance processes; for example, the Environment and Community Scrutiny Board, including compliance with timescales for the production and sign off of reports; supporting the Director and Assistant Directors within the Directorate. Support the directorate in the management and monitoring of the council’s scheme of delegation, annual governance statements and other key expectations to ensure full compliance for the Directorate
- Drive Corporate Priorities: Play a pivotal role in delivering both Directorate and Council corporate priorities, coordinating input, and aligning strategies as needed.
- Enhance Business Processes: Develop and refine Directorate's business processes, ensuring they align with customer and corporate needs, incorporating elements like monitoring, audits, risk management, and performance evaluations.
- Lead innovation: Take the reins on projects and research initiatives, spearheading recommendations for best practices within the Directorate.

Who we are looking for:
- You will be in possession of a degree, relevant professional qualifications, or recent, pertinent experience in Enabling Services, Thriving Communities or Thriving Places.
- Have a strong proficiency in organisational abilities and adept planning skills.
- An understanding of governance and democratic processes.
- Problem- Solving - The ability to tackle challenges with a solution-focused approach.
- Experience in collaborating with managers and partners across various levels.
- Proficiency in negotiation and influencing skills.
- Previous experience in managing change effectively.
- Excellent communication, presentation and report-writing skills.
- Political Awareness: Acute awareness and understanding of political dynamics.
