Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and organized Dispatch Controller to join our team. As a Dispatch Controller, you will play a crucial role in coordinating and managing the dispatch function to ensure delivery of projects are wrapped and delivered on time.
Your attention to detail, strong organisation skills, ability to multitask and develop strong working relationships with colleagues will contribute to the smooth flow of our supply chain.
Responsibilities:
- Ensuring jobs go on time, are checked as complete, wrapped and carefully and securely loaded (restrained where required) with all necessary paperwork. Including the planning and efficient organisation of Transport -where driven by our personnel.
- Pre-assemble jobs as and when required.
- Ownership of stock control, wrapping, securing, marking, tapes etc within the Dispatch department; accuracy, organisation, stockouts, overstock and visibility of stock within dispatch and transport.
- Taking in of vehicles and checking safety and adequacy of vehicles whether internal or external.
- Ensuring full understanding of timing of jobs and their delivery window requirements precisely, liaising with the Operations Director, Marine Manager and Production Manager (who most appropriate) to keep informed of relevant detail.
- To ensure you have full and forward visibility of what is ready and what needs attention to get on site ready for the dispatch.
- To take ownership of the order and tidiness of the Dispatch area.
- To ensure all necessary paperwork is ready for and goes with the Delivery.
- Liaise with Operations Director/Production Manager when big loading commitments will require a higher level of resource.
- Daily liaison with Production Manager to ensure program and targets are maintained, recording variations and changes to scheduling and highlighting any potential slippage at the first sign.
- Planning and monitoring the department’s production schedules and proactively work with other departments to ensure deadlines are met or managed as necessary, to minimise compromise to quality or standards of service.
- Managing hire vans and liaising closely with Purchasing re the time in and time out of hire to be as cost effective as possible. To ensure vehicles are safe and notifications and authorisations are secured in time for tolls and congestion charges.
- To own and manage QC sheets and ensure all finished product is diligently photographed before dispatch, uploading correctly on the system on a monthly basis
Requirements:
- Previous experience in logistics or dispatching is preferred
- Strong analytical skills with proven ability to make informed decisions
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
This role will involve lifting of furniture units so a good level of fitness will be required. The ability to be flexible in the working day is essential to ensure that jobs are dispatched.
