We are seeking a skilled and knowledgeable Optician to join our team. As an Optician, you will be responsible for assisting customers in selecting and fitting eyeglasses and contact lenses, as well as providing exceptional customer service. Your expertise in anatomy and laboratory work will be essential in ensuring accurate prescriptions and proper lens fittings.
Responsibilities:
- Assist customers in selecting eyeglasses and contact lenses based on their prescription, lifestyle, and fashion preferences
- Take accurate measurements of customers' eyes, including pupillary distance, segment height, and optical centers
- Interpret prescriptions written by optometrists or ophthalmologists
- Utilize laboratory equipment to cut, grind, and polish lenses to fit frames
- Adjust eyeglasses to ensure proper fit and comfort for customers
- Educate customers on proper eyewear care and maintenance
- Process orders for eyeglasses and contact lenses, including verifying insurance coverage and obtaining necessary authorizations
- Maintain inventory of frames, lenses, and other optical supplies
- Keep up-to-date with the latest trends in eyewear fashion and technology
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certification as an Optician is preferred
- Proven experience working as an Optician or in a similar role
- Strong knowledge of human anatomy related to the eyes and vision correction
- Familiarity with laboratory equipment used in lens fabrication
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to build rapport with customers
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
