We are recruiting for a D1 licensed driver to join our team at our Specialist Day Opportunities in Leek. This service supports adults with complex learning disabilities and autism by providing meaningful opportunities and activities. We pride ourselves in offering a person-centred service that promotes the wellbeing and independence of the people we support.
We have a 37 hours per week permanent full-time position available.
We require people who can work during the following hours, Monday – Friday, to provide a transport service to the people we support:
8.00am – 5.00pm
We are a flexible employer and will consider various working patterns to accommodate your availability.
Induction, supervision, and full training will be provided.
An enhanced DBS (criminal record check) will be required.
Pay rate is £12.38 per hour.

Main Responsibility
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic individual who has category D1 status on their licence. You will drive adapted vehicles with tail lift access and be responsible for vehicle and passenger safety.
Supported on the vehicle by another team member who will act as an escort, this role will be responsible for the safe collection and return home of the people we support. You will be expected to work as part of the care team and use your own initiative.
We offer diverse and varied work experiences, with no day being the same. Some of the tasks you may undertake include:
- Vehicle safety checks, including wheelchairs
- Supporting people with personal care (dressing, showering etc.)
- Supporting people with eating and drinking
- Health and safety tasks, including building checks and security
- The role may require you to carry out manual handling tasks to support clients in their day to day lives.

What you will bring
- Enthusiastic about working with vulnerable people and are caring, sensitive, and patient.
- Willing and physically able to support people with personal and intimate care needs and physically able to undertake manual handling tasks.
What you will have
- A caring nature.
- D1 driver’s license.
- Experience of working in a team.
- Practical knowledge of health and safety for vehicles and providing transport.
- Effective communication skills.
