This role is vital in delivering a best-in-class customer service experience to all of our clients. The security team makes sure appropriate actions are taken to reduce the risk of incidents and maintain services, to avoid any impact to the customer's set up.
It's a job that involves a lot of teamwork; everyone relies on and helps each other to do the best job possible for our business customers. You'll have a lot going on at once and can be managing lots of complex workloads and competing priorities. But we'll work with you to make sure you can manage it.
What you'll be doing
You'll be joining a security team that supports our government customers and you will develop your career pathway within a diverse and multi-disciplinary Engineering team, broadening your skills in advanced tools and applications that can help us counter Cyber Security threats to our Customer Platforms.
  • Deploy, support and maintain cutting edge tools and applications that support our customer's mission.

  • Develop skills in the underlying OS ( linux / windows) and networking capabilities.
  • Analyse data at scale using tools such as Elastic search
  • Provide input to project-level and wider strategy
Under the direction of a project lead, working collaboratively with customers and stakeholders to build close working relationships and build domain knowledge.
Hi, I'm Matt and I joined BT 3½ years ago as a Software Graduate. My role within Technology Services has evolved since joining on the Graduate Scheme. Having started in a software role, both supporting and developing business enablement applications, I was quickly presented with the opportunity to start working on projects in the Cloud. This has given me skills in a wide range of technologies, which I have been able to develop and work towards my new role as Secure Cloud and Monitoring Specialist. As part of my role I now lead a team delivering monitoring capability for both some of our cloud and on-premise customers. Utilising cloud-native technologies including Kubernetes and the Elastic (ELK) Stack. The team I work in are fantastic! Everyone is supportive of each other and there is a wide range of skillsets to be able to draw on.
The skills & experience you'll need
The role is also subject to you gaining and keeping the necessary level of security clearance needed to undertake your work. The result of the security clearance vetting is not subject to appeal. Failure to successfully achieve and maintain the necessary level of security clearance may see any offer of employment with BT cease or withdrawn.
We will also be looking for the following:
• A 2.2 degree or higher in a relevant STEM subject.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication skills.
• Strong IT skills.
• The ability to simplify complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
Desired but not essential:
• Knowledge or experience of contact centre, video, collaboration, or voice technologies.
Due to the sensitive nature of this role you will be required to have DV (Developed Vetting) level Security Clearance ( https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/united-kingdom-security-vetting-clearance-levels/national-security-vetting-clearance-levels). An allowance of £5k per annum will be payable monthly while you hold this DV and continue to work in a role that requires that level of security clearance. The terms of this allowance will be made available if you are successful in being recruited into this role.
