Salary: £26,788 - £30,751 (Pro-rata for sessional)
Hours: 36 per week, 39 weeks sessional
Dalry Primary School & Nursey is a diverse and multicultural Primary School & nursery in the city centre of Edinburgh, a short 5 or so mins from Haymarket Station. Around 70% of our children have English as an additional language, and we currently have 28 different languages spoken by our pupils and families who are from many different countries around the world. This rich cultural mix makes our school unique. There is a very strong inclusive ethos at Dalry and we are well supported by a very wide range of partnership services and agencies, which enhance the work, and wider life of the school & nursery. Our nursery is currently delivering 1140 hours and our capacity is 64 pupils. The school roll is just over 300 including nursery.
We are looking for an Early Years Practitioner (EYP) to join our enthusiastic and committed team, and to be part of our very positive and nurturing environment. The successful candidate will work collaboratively as a member of the wider Early Years team, including potential involvement with transition and play pedagogy from Nursery to Primary 1.
The EYP will; provide a service compatible with good practice in the education and care of children and young people within the policies and systems laid down by the Council and Education Department and the Care Commission; work as an effective member of a Multi-Disciplinary Team promoting a stimulating environment which balances education and care for children and young people; meet children’s individual needs and those of their families, enabling each individual to achieve their potential; contribute to programmes of work for children with additional support needs; create a supportive and caring ethos in which individual children and young people are encouraged and supported to develop self-esteem, self-confidence and respect for others; provide an appropriately challenging and stimulating educational environment where individual children and young people are encouraged to reach their full potential. The principles of the Getting It Right For Every Child (GIRFEC) programme will underpin the post holder’s work e.g. putting the child at the centre; keeping the child safe; taking the whole child approach.
The EYP must hold either SNNB/HNC Child Care and Education or SVQ 3 Social Services, Children and Young People.
You will be required to register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) in the category of Practitioner and adhere to the codes of practice set out by SSSC.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
