Educational Teaching Assistant – SEND

This is a unique and exciting role split between Educational Teaching Assistant SEND Grade 6 scale point 7-11 (19.17 hrs) and HLTA Grade 9 scale point 23-26 (12.08 hrs) for a total of 31.25 hours a week.

Required from 1st September 2024 (to support SEND children across school in the mornings and to act as HLTA in the afternoons) and is full time but temporary for one year in the first instance with a possibility to extend.

Scholes Village Primary School is a one form entry primary school with a nursery at the heart of the local community it serves. Scholes is a “Good” School (OFSTED October 2019).  We are seeking to appoint a flexible person to an exciting new role of two parts: SEND Specialist Supportand HLTA.  We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed HLTA trained Educational Teaching Assistant with knowledge and experience of working to meet the special educational needs of children.  A SEND-focussed ETA who also spends half of the week as a HLTA would be a great addition to our happy and highly successful school. The right candidate could shape this new, interesting role and make it their own with the potential for further progression.

Our successful candidate will:

• already have experience of or expertise in working with SEND pupils (in mainstream or specialist provision);
• have HLTA level qualifications (or equivalent);

• have a calm, compassionate and caring approach to working with and supporting children;
• have the ability to build an excellent rapport with children;
• have the ability to use their own initiative;
• have excellent organisational skills and work well as part of a team;
• communicate effectively and professionally with parents, carers and other professionals;
• have high expectations and the ability to inspire and motivate pupils;

• have a willingness to take a lead in organising activities for lunchtime play.
