We have an excellent opportunity for a proactive and resourceful professional to join our EFM team as our EFM Operations Manager. You will be a key member of the Estates and Facilities Management (EFM) Senior Management Team (SMT), responsible for the provision and delivery of a comprehensive range of (EFM) services that will provide a safe and efficient environment within which the Donkey Sanctuary, and its overseas subsidiaries, can deliver its corporate aims and objectives.

This will include: Repairs and renewals and general repairs, Planned and response maintenance, Estate and Property management, Statutory Compliance (Electrical Safety, Fire Safety, Emergency Lighting, Water Safety (Legionella), Pressure Systems, LOLAR, HVAC, Fuel Storage, Confined Spaces, Access, Maintenance Team & Steel Fabrication Team Management, PPM, Asset Management, Budget Management; Utilities management and sustainable development and EFM emergency preparedness and business continuity.

About you:

• You should be City & Guilds as approved technician including Inspection & Testing & current IEE 18th edition Wiring Regulations;
• Have experience of electrical installation (single, 3-phase and domestic), IT networks, alarm systems, CCTV, etc;
• Be able to effectively manage staff and contractors, including the negotiation of services and contracts;
• Able to demonstrate extensive knowledge of the building industry, contracting and health & safety requirements;
• Be qualified in Managing Safely (IOSH)
• Acting as AP for Electrical Safety, with previous experience of working successfully as the appointed person, providing advice and instruction when required to ensure compliance
• RP for Water Safety (Legionella), with previous experience of working successfully as the registered person, providing advice and instruction when required to ensure compliance.

About the role:

Your principal duties and responsibilities will include –

• Work closely with the EFM Senior Management Team providing leadership, coordination and day to day management of activities relating to planned and response Estates Maintenance and Steel Fabrication. To contribute towards the development and delivery of excellent EFM services to all Donkey Sanctuary owned and managed premises.
• In the absence of members of the EFM Senior Management Team, to assume deputising duties as deemed appropriate and relevant.
• To provide leadership and line management for the Maintenance and Steel Fabrication teams supporting and liaising as necessary in order to deliver anticipated levels of performance and driving improvements within the service.
• To assist the EFM Senior Management Team to manage, motivate, recruit, train and develop staff in line with the Charity's strategic aims and objectives.
• To work with colleagues in ensuring that 24 hour breakdown and emergency cover is scheduled appropriately. Be part of the on call team.
• To manage external suppliers, consultants and contractors engaged in works at the Donkey Sanctuary.

Based fully on site in Sidmouth, Devon – an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – this a full-time, 12 month fixed term contract starting as soon as possible, working 37.5 hours per week, 08.00-16.30, Monday-Friday.
