JOB TITLE: ELECTRICAL ENGINEER


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The asset-responsible Electrical Engineer shall provide centralised discipline-specific support on Electrical Engineering matters.
  • Coordinates with offshore operation personnel for planned and corrective maintenance of fixed and rotating electrical equipment.
  • Managing the relevant vendor activities, materials, spares, and performance, including input to the asset planning process.
  • Is familiar with the appropriate statutory legislation, safety cases, and safety management systems used to support the role. Particularly, the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 and the Offshore Installations (Offshore Safety Directive) (Safety Case) Regulations 2015
  • Ensures all electrical third-party support performs in accordance with the contract deliverables and reports on progress.
  • Confirms all work carried out by contract personnel conforms to statutory regulations, Petrofac’s procedures, and the client’s procedures.
  • Ensures all electrical equipment in hazardous areas is maintained in accordance with BS EN 60079.
  • Ensures all actions assigned within the client accident and incident reporting procedure are closed out within the appropriate timeframe.
  • Visits offshore as required to investigate electrical breakdowns.
  • Supports safety audits, work permit reviews and good engineering practices as required offshore
  • Supporting team assessment, during the Operational Risk Assessment (ORA) process, determines whether it is safe to continue to operate in the impaired condition and supports the attachment of conditions (mitigation measures) that must be followed to permit continued operations
  • Provide support and cover for other asset discipline engineers as required.
  • Provides Electrical Engineering expertise to other teams by performing and reviewing complex or non-routine Electrical Engineering calculations and analyses.
  • Provides Electrical Engineering expertise to MoCs (management of change) and to brownfield projects and modifications.
  • Comment: Relevant support activities involve regulatory compliance, deviations from technical practice/specifications, design reviews, procurement support for complex packages, life cycle operability, category management, and SQM (supplier quality management) activities.
  • Provides Electrical Engineering expertise in performing incident investigations and defect investigations.
  • Ensures that the inspection, testing, maintenance, and condition monitoring tasks are aligned with the technical intent of equipment strategies.
  • Develops and updates the technical content of equipment strategies based on equipment performance feedback and performs periodic reviews.
  • Comment: Relevant equipment performance feedback includes inspection, testing, and maintenance data, KPIs (Key Performance Indicators), condition monitoring data, equipment MoC, and findings from defect investigations.
  • Performs reliability analysis for electrical equipment using surveillance, maintenance, and condition monitoring data and trends performance metrics.
  • Provides Electrical Engineering expertise for the delivery of regional actions. Leads to the resolution of complex, multi-discipline technical issues where the dominant component is Electrical Engineering.
  • Records relevant learnings in shared learning systems, incorporates them into local activities, and escalates high-priority lessons.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Broad range of personal effectiveness and leadership skills, with the ability to facilitate and influence decisions within a team environment
  • Strong analytical skills to lead/conduct discipline investigations.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritise work to ensure key discipline activities are delivered in line with departmental plans and asset outages.
  • Substantial experience and technical understanding of the engineering, maintenance, and operation of electrical equipment in oil & gas processing facilities.
  • Extensive knowledge of governing codes, industry standards, and local regulations relevant to Electrical Engineering, and proven ability in the practical application of engineering standards and practices for electrical equipment.
  • Competent in conducting/reviewing power system analysis studies (load flow, fault analysis, motor starting, harmonic analysis)
  • Conducting root cause failure analysis (RCFA) for electrical equipment.
