Electrical Team Member
What you need to know about the role
Steelmaking High Level Support Team provides hands on first line maintenance and repairs to keep the Basic Oxygen Plant, Concast and Semi Finished Products operational for the manufacturing of Steel. Scope of work includes drives, motors, PLCs, protection, transformers, instrumentation as well as other low voltage supply equipment.
Working as a Steelmaking High Level Support Team member you will be responsible for working alongside a team of 5 other multi skilled British Steel craft to ensure safe and effective maintenance of equipment.
Reporting to the Steelmaking Electrical Team Leader for the shift you will provide front line support, you will work to achieve plant operational targets, product quality, customer service and health and safety objectives.
You will maintain and where possible raise the benchmark for engineering standards in the area and will ensure a high standard of maintenance is achieved in a safe efficient manner.
What we need to know about you
To be considered for this position you must be qualified to a minimum NVQ Level 3, or equivalent in a relevant electrical trade or have served a recognised apprenticeship*.
Ideally you will have experience of electrical maintenance and fault finding within a commercial or heavy engineering environment, essential to the role is the ability to adapt to new equipment. You must be flexible, have a desire to learn and develop.
Knowledge of steelmaking would be beneficial but is not essential, as extensive training will be provided.
