Electrical Technician

Astutes Power Team are working exclusively with Marchwood Power Limited who own & operate the Marchwood Gas Fired Power Station in Southampton. This plant is able to produce 900MW of Power in a Combined Cycle configuration.

The Electrical Technician position is an integral role within the Maintenance department responsible for the short & long term maintenance on all electrical assets as well as supporting on projects & outages.

This excellent opportunity offers an attractive salary up to �54,400 per year plus overtime opportunity, bonus and full benefits package.
Responsibilities and duties:
As the Electrical Maintenance Technician you will be:

* Carrying out pre-planned and reactive maintenance on electrical assets including motors, transformers, switchgear, drives and HV/LV plant
* Ensuring maintenance plans and targets are achieved safely and within environmental parameters of the power station
* Working in line with maintenance techniques and best practices
* Assisting in plant developments and projects
* Supervising and setting to work on site contractors
* Maintaining accurate maintenance records on the site CMMS
* Assist in outage planning, scheduling and coordination

Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:

* A recognised electrical engineering apprenticeship ideally gained in a heavy process industry e.g. power station, pharmaceutical plant, steels works, paper mill, manufacturing etc.
* An HNC / ONC or equivalent in electrical engineering would be advantageous
* 17th/18th Edition Wiring Regulation

Personal skills
The Electrical Technician role would suit someone who has:

* Extensive knowledge and hands on experience maintaining electrical plant including motors, switchgear, transformers, drives
* Practical knowledge of maintenance procedures and processes associated with heavy process industries
* Ability to carry out LV isolations and develop to HV
* HV experience would be advantageous
* Competent in reading & interrogating P&ID’s
* Competent with Permit to Work systems
