We are looking for an electronics Technician to Support the marine navigation and traffic management systems on the estuary.
Accountabilities
- Monitor and maintain marine VHF radio and VOIP communications equipment.
- Monitor and maintain VTS Radar system and associated subsystems
- Monitor and maintain tidal data acquisition and telemetry equipment
- Monitor and maintain microwave network equipment
- Maintain electronic navigation and communication equipment on pilot and survey vessels
- Identify and manage the repair and replacement of faulty assets in above systems, specifying, sourcing, and ordering equipment as required.
- Ensure all work is undertaken in accordance with all relevant Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work, modifying as required due to changes in working methods and or the introduction of new regulations.
- Liaise with VTSOs and Dock masters to ensure all systems are operating correctly
Skills, experiences, qualifications and competencies
- HNC (or equivalent) in electrical/electronic engineering
- Excellent fault finding and problem diagnosis skills
- Working knowledge of UHF/VHF radio communications, RADAR, and UAIS systems desirable
- Working knowledge of digital communications and networking protocols
- Computer literacy with knowledge of Microsoft applications, some programming experience advantageous
- Knowledge of health and safety practices
- Full driving license essential
Your working hours will be 8:30 – 16:30pm (Day Shift) Monday-Friday, however you will be on call to attend out of hours when needed.
