Title:Quality & EHS (Q-EHS) MANAGER

Reports to:EMEA Operations Director

Position Overview

As the Q-EHS Manager, you will report to the EMEA Operations Director and work with the Global Q-EHS Teams to ensure that best practices are followed for maximum efficiency and that the most suitable working environment and quality systems are maintained for its employees and their activities. Your responsibilities will be for the Quality and EHS management systems of three UK-based sites (Norwich, Cambridge, and Northampton) and EMEA Manufacturing sites (Berlin and Paris); this encompasses the management of Ex Management System to ISO/IEC 80079-34 (ATEX and IECEx), services and processes that support Production, Product Repair & Servicing and Engineering. This is a diverse, hands-on role with a range of responsibilities. You will be part of the Site Senior Leadership Team and involved in both strategic planning and day-to-day operations of the Norwich site. Travel requirements, approx. 25%.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement quality assurance, Ex, and EHS strategies and procedures to ensure product quality meets or exceeds industry standards at each site.
  • Establish and maintain quality metrics and KPIs to measure performance and drive improvement initiatives.
  • Lead internal and external quality assurance, Ex, and EHS audits at each site to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide guidance and support to site teams in implementing quality assurance, Ex, and EHS policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Conduct hazard identification and risk mitigation activities at each site and develop strategies to continually improve health, safety, and environmental risks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve quality, Ex, and EHS issues at each site, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement at each site by promoting quality, Ex and EHS awareness and providing training and development opportunities.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the Corporate Quality, Ex Safety and EHS teams, coordinating communication and collaboration between Corporate and site-based teams.

Management

  • Norwich Site Leadership team
  • Responsible for Q-EHS direct reports within the UK , Berlin, and point of contact for Paris.
  • Proven track record of strong project management skills and successful project implementation
  • Proven record of strong people management skills including ability to successfully build the required skills in a team, develop individuals and implement team working
  • Good communication and presentation skills with ability to adapt personal style to colleagues’ preferences and translate the departmental impacts to all levels of the business.
  • Peer Relationships - Collaborative style with ability to build partnerships both internally and externally, quickly finding common ground and solve problems for the good of all.
  • Visual management to track projects, measure performance and run problem solving events at Gemba.
  • Management of Change (MoC) activities ensure risk mitigation and task completion.

  • Ability to exercise judgment within procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.

Qualification and, Skills and Knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Environmental Science, or related field; master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in quality assurance and EHS management, preferably in a multi-site manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of Quality and Ex management systems (ISO 9001, ISO/IEC 80079-34) and EHS regulations (ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001/ISO 45001).
  • Lean manufacturing operations environment.
  • Working knowledge of Safety and Environment Management Systems (OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Fluent in English; additional language skills (e.g., German and French) are a plus.
  • Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) and/or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) credentials are preferred.
  • Experienced in training groups of people and tracking employee development.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including MS Project.
  • Electronics background desirable.
