Help shape our strategic direction to protect the public from serious and organised crime.

About us

Serious and organised crime is one of the deadliest threats facing the UK today - blighting communities, ruining lives and costing the UK at least £37 billion each year. The National Crime Agency (NCA) protects the public by disrupting and bringing to justice those serious and organised criminals who pose the highest risk to the UK. Our in-house legal department sits at the heart of the Agency, providing specialist advisory and litigation support across the entire organisation.

About the role

Our Commercial and Employment Law Team handles a broad range of contentious and non-contentious work for the Agency. You will use your legal skills and judgement to contribute to the strategic direction of the NCA and shape the legislative landscape by providing specialist employment law advice. Ranging from recruitment to pensions, and policy and trade union consultation to grievances and employment tribunals, our work is varied and challenging. We’ll look to you to think creatively to help manage legal risk in cases that are often novel, complex and challenging.

For more details, please register for the following event:

On Tuesday 5th March at 18:00, we are hosting a virtual MS Teams event where you can hear from NCA Officers working within the role. Attendance is by invitation only.

To register your interest, please email central.recruitment@nca.gov.uk with the subject header - NCA Legal Employment Lawyer Virtual Event 05.03.24

About you

A solicitor or barrister, qualified to practise in England and Wales or Northern Ireland, you’ll have significant post-qualification experience, including extensive exposure to employment law. You’ll have an appreciation of the role of lawyers in government, a sound understanding of public law, reliable judgement and appreciation of legal risk. We also look for the ability to think strategically and creatively, seeing legal issues in their wider context and advising accordingly.

Benefits

As well as giving you all the support and challenge you need to grow your career, we offer a range of benefits including 26 days’ annual leave on entry (plus eight public holidays), a competitive contributory pension scheme, flexible working patterns, family-friendly policies including generous parental leave and tax-free childcare, interest-free season-ticket loans, occupational sick pay and access to occupational health services.
