Salary range: £26,873 - £28,770 pro-rata, per annum (actual salary £18,158 - £19,439 per annum)

Work location: Countywide, Oxfordshire

Hours per week: 25 - we are open to discussions about flexible working

Contract type: Temporary for 12 months (with potential to extend)

Vetting requirements: This role is subject to a criminal records check

Due to an increased interest in our Employment Support Programmes, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an Employment Support Worker to join our team!


About us and the role


This is a varied role which provides new experiences, exciting challenges, and job satisfaction.


Oxfordshire Employment, an award-winning Countywide Employment Service, is looking to recruit an Employment Support Worker to work on our Supported Internship Programme, however, will also be required to work on other Employment Support Programmes that we deliver if required.


Oxfordshire Supported Internships delivered in partnerships with the local colleges and other service providers offer support to young adults to achieve their employment goals through college learning and in-work placements. You will work closely with your colleagues, stakeholders and employers to ensure that the young people are fully supported to develop within an employment setting and to achieve a paid employment outcome at the end of the internship where appropriate.


Employment Support Workers seek work placement opportunities with local employers and provide in-work coaching to the young people by working alongside them in their work placements


In addition, you will:


  • Be able to work between the hours of 9am-4pm, Monday to Friday
  • Support several young people in work placements throughout the County of Oxfordshire, with the guidance and support from an Employment Advisor
  • Provide reasonable adjustment advice to employers where required with guidance from the Employment Advisor.
  • Work to the persons strengths when supporting and developing their skills.
  • Complete reviews and administration requirements

Travel around the county will be required, car driver would be an advantage.


About you


To be successful in the role, you will be able to demonstrate:


  • Experience or Knowledge of supporting people with disabilities within a work setting
  • Excellent verbal communication skills along with the ability to communicate effectively with your colleagues, college teams, employers, and the people who we are supporting on programmes.
  • Excellent organisational skills to enable you to work effectively while supporting people in several locations throughout the County

You will also need the ability to:


  • Provide advice and solutions to the learning and development to the young people/adults within a work environment whilst maintaining a professional approach always.
  • Work under pressure, prioritising and using own initiative to manage workloads effectively
  • Have a dynamic approach and a “can-do” attitude towards tasks and peoples learning styles.
  • Have understanding, patience and professionalism when communicating with people who may have an invested interested in the young person’s future
