Here at East Lancs, we provide a 7 day Endoscopy service and as such the post holder will work as part of a wider team on a rota basis. The post holder will be responsible for the management and accurate and timely administration of waiting lists in accordance with the Access, Booking and Choice Policy, liaising directly with clinicians, nurses, administrators, directorate staff and patients,
whilst ensuring waiting list targets are achieved and confidentiality is met at all times.
1. Each clerk is responsible for the management of Endoscopy waiting lists and working as part of a team within the particular speciality.
2. Add selected patients to the waiting list using the computerised Patient Administration System,
3. Complete and forward letters and health check questionnaires to patients who have been added to the waiting list. On receipt of the returned questionnaires update the Patient Administration System with all relevant data.
4. To be the first point of contact for all patients added to an inpatient, day case and selected outpatient waiting list.

Ensure online booking diaries and other records are kept up to date and accurate.
Negotiate a mutually convenient admission date with the patient whilst taking into consideration clinical priority, availability of anaesthetists and the constrictions of the Access Booking Targets and enter the information onto the Out Look Diaries and also the Patient Administration System.
Issue patients with a confirmation letter related to their operation ensuring appropriate and accurate documentation and information regarding their treatment is enclosed.
Arrange pre-operative assessment appointments for patient’s where necessary ensuring all relevant documentation is requested and available for the nurse. Update the Patient Administration System with information regarding the patient’s current medication and deliver instructions accordingly.
Liaise with different specialty consultant teams for patients requiring dual procedures during one operation, which after initial training requires an understanding of medical procedures.
A good understanding of time frames involved in all invasive procedures is necessary to ensure the case mix booked for theatre lists is appropriate, once training is complete.
