About Us:
Visiting homes and commercial premises to ensure the payment of debts.
In Kensington and Chelsea, we put local people and local businesses at the heart of decision-making, working in partnership with them to provide quality services that are responsive, effective and efficient. While creating a Greener, Safer and Fairer borough, we’re also operating in an increasingly challenging financial environment. That means staying on top of outstanding debts relating to council tax, business rates, parking fines and other services.
The Role:
You’ll visit homes and commercial premises in your neighbourhood, enforcing the collection of unpaid debts owed to the Council. Although you will often have to act assertively, you will also identify and assist vulnerable people, ensuring their welfare and wellbeing by connecting them to support and benefits. Working both alone and alongside our other Enforcement Officers, you’ll have the freedom to manage your own caseload. This will usually mean a Monday to Friday schedule, although occasional weekend and evening working may be required.
Please refer to the Job Description for more information
About You:
This is a people-focused role, so you’ll need strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to listen actively and engage others. You’ll be a good problem-solver, calm under pressure and able to deal with challenging behaviour. Experience of undertaking enforcement collections would be helpful, and you must hold a Taking Control of Goods Level 2 certificate and have a good grasp of relevant legislation. A clean, valid, UK driver’s licence is also important. Above all, as a representative of the council, you’ll be courteous, approachable, helpful, and professional in your outlook.
In return, you can look forward to a package that includes a competitive salary, a high-quality pension scheme and generous annual leave plus bank holidays.
Please apply online explaining how you meet the requirements set out in the person specification and job description. CV’s will not be considered for this role.
