Job description

Job Title: Manufacturing Buyer - Special Purpose Machinery

Location: Norwich, United Kingdom

Are you passionate about driving efficiency and excellence in the manufacturing process? Do you have a keen eye for sourcing high-quality materials and components? We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Manufacturing Buyer to join our team in Norwich, working with special purpose machinery.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Supplier Relationship Management:
    • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure a reliable and high-quality supply chain for special purpose machinery components.
    • Negotiate favorable terms, prices, and contracts to optimise procurement processes.
  2. Strategic Sourcing:
    • Conduct thorough market research to identify new suppliers, materials, and technologies that align with the company's goals.
    • Develop and implement sourcing strategies to achieve cost savings without compromising quality.
  3. Material Planning and Forecasting:
    • Collaborate with production teams to understand manufacturing requirements and ensure timely availability of materials.
    • Utilise forecasting tools to anticipate material needs and address potential supply chain challenges.
  4. Quality Assurance:
    • Work closely with quality control teams to establish and maintain high standards for materials and components.
    • Implement rigorous inspection processes to ensure compliance with specifications and industry standards.
  5. Cost Management:
    • Analyse cost structures and identify opportunities for cost reduction without compromising product quality.
    • Monitor and report on key performance indicators related to procurement activities.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in procurement, preferably in a manufacturing setting with special purpose machinery.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and procurement software.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
