Main Purpose:
To provide leadership to the maintenance team of engineers and contractors for effective and safe support to the business with all controls necessary. Ensure plant and equipment is maintained to a safe and reliable working environment. Responsible person for engineering standards within the facility to meet statutory compliance for services and operational safety.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Maintain compliance with health and safety statutory requirements and quality standards relating to all engineering aspects of the business. Example pressure systems, electrical duty holder, statutory inspections, LOLER, etc.
- Manage engineering costs for maintenance and capital expenditure projects within agreed financial budgets.
- Manage energy efficiency performance of the business and take lead role in continuous improvements for sustainability and management of climate change agreement.
- Assist financial director with utility supply contracts purchasing and cost control.
- Maintain environmental/sustainability performance and compliance within UK/Group standards.
- Plan and execute capital expenditure projects. Maintain capital expenditure controls and prepare submission to group.
- Plan and conduct continuous improvement to plant and process where opportunities become available.
- Liaise with group insurers for site inspections and recommendations for risk reduction.
- Conduct maintenance and asset management improvements as part of capital expenditure program.
- Responsible for site project management and involvement in group planning and controls of business activities.
- Lead maintenance team, train and mentor team for individual progress and on-site training.
Qualification and Experience:
- Formal qualifications in an engineering discipline (HNC/HND mechanical or electrical).
- Previous experience of leading multi-disciplined teams in a fast-paced and changing environment to optimise plant performance.
- Experience of maintaining process machinery and other aspects of the job.
- An understanding of plastics processing machinery and the ability to identify and rectify mechanical wear and processing issues would be advantageous but not essential.
- Drive improvement through strategy development, long-term planning, co-ordination of resources, and the development and implementation of major capital schemes.
- Good self-organisation and administrative skills and able to promote and motivate teamwork.
