An exciting opportunity has arisen for you to join us as a Management Systems Engineer in our Management Systems team in Derby.

In this role you will manage and control procedures and instructional documents to ensure that Nuclear Licence conditions, Customer and legislation requirements are met, while adhering to the Management Systems defined standard and processes. Provide technical support to stakeholders in relation to the Management System and manage documents using the defined Executive Electronic System(s), whilst maintaining adherence to the document compliance programme.

Identify and lead local improvement projects, whilst also providing support to wider improvement initiatives including coaching and guidance to junior members of the team.

Submarines business is responsible for the design, manufacture, supply and through-life support of nuclear propulsion-related products and systems in support of the Royal Navy's submarine fleet. You can find out more about the amazing projects that we are working on here:- (url removed)

What you will be doing:

You will support the maintenance of a management system that meets requirements of Nuclear Licensed Site LC6, 24, 25 compliance statements, customer requirements and incorporate relevant good practice. This includes the development of best practice standards.

 In addition, you will:

  • Ensure a consistent and valuable service is provided to instructional document stakeholders. Support stakeholders to improve instructional documents to ensure compliance, standard approach and effective management system.
  • To maintain yearly SMART objectives and manage day-to-day workload to achieve commitments within agreed timescales, anticipating challenges and communicating risks/opportunities.
  • To maintain and verify adherence to Nuclear Licensed Site document management system and conduct self-assurance documentation compliance checks as required and to timescales. Escalate non-conformance through the Management Information System (MIS) and take appropriate action to rectify and prevent re-occurrence.
  • To act as an advisor for document management related issues, providing technical support and guidance in regard to writing instructional documents and the use of Oracle WebCenter/Teamcenter.
  • To maintain CM Wikipedia (Wiki) page, ensure accurate information and hyperlinks to all approved CM instructional documents.
  • Lead by example on the Journey to Zero Harm, acting as an advocate for safety and encourage a positive safety culture within the team.
  • You will be accountable to the Core Production Technical Support Manager (TSM) – Safety and act as the delegate for the Management Systems Team Lead, when required.

  • Higher education or professional certification in relevant subject matter or previous experience in related discipline.
  • Yellow belt accredited, Green Belt desirable.
  • Familiarisation of Licence Conditions (LC) 6 Documents, records, authorities and certificates, LC17 Management Systems, LC24 Operating Instructions and LC25 Operational Records, desirable, Rolls-Royce Management System (RRMS), Architecture of Integrated Information Systems (ARIS) and the Submarines processes including the Process Hub.
  • Experience in using a document Management Systems tool (ideally Oracle Webcenter/Teamcenter) and the use of Microsoft Office tool set.
  • Good communication, influencing and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
