Our UK facility, now in larger premises due to growth, is conveniently located near the A50, M1, and M42, with short commutes from Derby, Nottingham, and Leicester. Situated on the Rolls-Royce campus in Derby, our largest UK customer, we specialize in aerospace tooling production and delivery, servicing high-profile OEMs with quality products.
Role Overview:
As the Operations Manager, reporting to the General Manager and collaborating with our global team, you will oversee daily manufacturing, assembly, and inspection operations. You'll ensure quality, delivery, cost management, and safety performance, adhering to policies, procedures, and key performance indicators. Additionally, you'll develop processes, contribute to long-term planning, and support overall business strategy.
Responsibilities:
- ·Plan, organize, and optimize day-to-day manufacturing operations
- ·Provide leadership to meet safety, cost, delivery, and compliance goals
- ·Lead process and product improvement initiatives
- ·Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders
- ·Identify long-term investment needs and justify expenditures
- ·Lead continuous improvement efforts for products and processes
- ·Represent the business internally and externally
- ·Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations
- ·Drive technology and process enhancements
- ·Structure organization and staff positions to meet objectives
- ·Develop operating plans and budgets
- ·Provide necessary performance reports
- ·Monitor operations and recommend corrective actions
- ·Ensure timely resolution of manufacturing queries and reworked goods
- ·Increase production capacity and flexibility while minimizing costs
- ·Analyze and recommend operational processes and workflow improvements
- ·Maintain positive relationships with stakeholders
- ·Set and monitor departmental and individual performance objectives
- ·Identify and mitigate operational risks
- ·Report progress to the General Manager regularly
- ·Support recruitment, training, and culture development
- ·Drive operational changes as needed
- ·Prepare for audits and address reported improvements or failures
- ·Proactively assess and address hazards
- ·Contribute to the annual load and capacity review and budget process
- ·Travel to worldwide HYDRO and customer sites as required
- ·Perform other duties as assigned by the General Manager and SLT team
- ·Minimum 5 years' manufacturing leadership experience, preferably in Aerospace
- ·Proven experience in Operations Management
- ·Experience in Manufacturing Engineering and Quality Inspection
- ·Strong management and leadership skills
- ·Knowledge of manufacturing management disciplines
- ·Excellent technical understanding and customer evaluation skills
- ·Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
- ·Good commercial experience and cost management understanding
- ·Decisive with a positive approach to change
- ·Self-disciplined with excellent organizational and time management skills
- ·Motivated with the ability to motivate others
- ·Valid UK passport and driving license
