What you'll be doing:
Lead and oversee the Materials Testing facilities at BAE Submarines
Run a team of Specialists, Engineers and Technicians to deliver test outputs, reports and associated documentation
Develop, maintain and extend UKAS accreditation as required by the business processes
Lead testing activities and plans that may be delivered by external agencies or test houses
Manage stakeholders to deliver timely turnaround and required documentation
Develop internal stakeholder networks to regulate work through our laboratories
Maintain, replace and expand testing equipment and capability
Your skills and experiences:
Degree in a STEM subject, preferably materials related
Lead teams of specialists in a laboratory environment
Proven record and experience with running UKAS laboratories
Worked with materials and welding testing to national and international standard

The Materials Testing team:
As a growing team, we are expanding Materials Testing within the submarines business. Consisting of eight machinists and technicians, we conduct mechanical testing and material preparation supporting a larger group of over fifty Metallurgists, Welding Engineers, as well as Ceramic, Polymer and Composite Engineers to undertake routine and bespoke testing to support our product.
The labs undertake Weld Procedure Qualification testing, Welder Approval testing, Materials Mechanical testing as well as other testing for specific properties of materials to known national and international standards.
