Here at Bournemouth & Poole College, we are looking to recruit a new English Lecturer on a full-time basis. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £27,545 – £38,056 per annum, plus a Golden Hello of up to £3,000 [terms and conditions apply].

The English Lecturer Role
As a English Lecturer, you will be part of the cross-college English and maths team who are responsible for delivering GCSE English and GCSE maths to our 16-18 students. Some students may undertake Functional Skills English and maths.
In addition, there is an Adult provision delivering Functional Skills English and maths to students aged 19+.

Responsibilities as our English Lecturer will include:
• Contributing to high quality learning experiences using a variety of teaching and learning methods.
• Ensuring that teaching is based on current best available practice and is consistent with a high standard of practice.
• Providing academic support to students in accordance with agreed procedures.
• Creating an outstanding student experience which leads to the successful completion of a GCSE and Functional Skills qualification. Preparation of lesson plans and assignment schedules
• Preparation of learning materials and student assignments
• Marking of students’ work and of internal examinations and assessments, invigilation work
• Managing student issues within agreed protocols.
• Undertaking such other reasonable duties as the line manager may require from time to time
* The above list of duties is not exhaustive and is subject to change. The post holder may be required to undertake other duties within the scope and grading of the post.

As our English Lecturer, you’ll ideally have:
• Relevant Level 3 English qualification
• Teaching Qualification or willingness to achieve within 2 years
• Experience of facilitating GCSE English learning for students in a Further Education or an appropriate educational setting.
• Knowledge of the content of GCSE English Language
• Communication skills including written and verbal

Golden Hello Up to £3,000 T&Cs apply:
• Up to £3,000 one off incentive will be awarded based on achievement of the probation period (based on skills, experience and current salary a decision will be made at offer of the

• Depending on skills set and experiences linked to the job specification
• Candidate needs to be in post for 18 months following successful completion of probation otherwise full payback will be required
