The Imperial College Healthcare Trust is currently looking to recruit and Enhanced Recovery Nurse to join the Colorectal Surgery Team across our sites. The Colorectal service comprises of surgeons, oncologists and gastroenterologists as well as a large multidisciplinary team of nurses, dietitians, therapists to name a few. Despite this being a lone working role in the main, you will be part of a wider advanced practice team to support you and network, and be matched with an Upper Gastrointestinal Enhanced Recovery Nurse.
The team are looking for an enthusiastic and driven individual to join our team as an Enhanced Recovery Nurse whose key aim will be to optimise the patient’s journey through hospital as they undergo major surgery. We are looking for someone who is able to work autonomously and collaboratively, providing expert knowledge and advice on Enhanced Recovery pathways and providing educational support to a team of highly skilled nurses and doctors. The post holder will be required to have excellent communication skills and to confidently support patients and families.

Identify and enrol patients onto the Enhanced Recovery pathway
Provide expert knowledge and advice on Enhanced Recovery pathways and maintaining clinical excellence underpinned by evidence based practice.
Provide specialist, interdisciplinary education and training to clinical staff on Enhanced Recovery pathways and peri-operative care
Run outpatient and virtual clinics for patients independently, working alongside coordinators and other members of the MDT
Inpatient reviews of patient post-surgery to support their recovery, and keep their care on track with pathway goals
Work strategically to influence the development of the peri-operative service both locally and nationally.
Create a culture of collaborative partnership working with internal and external stakeholders to ensure outcomes of the highest standard.
Participate in local and national audit and research in this field to raise the profile of the Imperial Healthcare NHS Trust.
Data collection and analysis to assess compliance and design and initiate action plans to educate and improve outcomes. Confidence in presenting data to colleagues and the opportunity to do so at conferences where appropriate
